Further training in intensive care & and anaesthetic nursing (DKG)

The strengthening of nursing skills, which are indispensable for the challenges of everyday practice in intensive care and anaesthetic nursing, are taught through the further training of intensive care and anaesthetic nursing according to the guidelines of the German Hospital Association (DKG). To this end, the German Heart Centre Munich offers its staff in the intensive care units the opportunity once a year to complete the in-service training course in intensive care and anaesthetic nursing (DKG) in cooperation with the Munich Hospital Academy.

The further training takes at least two years and is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The practical training with at least 1800 hours takes place in the anaesthetic departments as well as in various intensive care units in association with the Munich Municipal Hospitals. Practical instructors ensure the theory-practice transfer and accompany the participants in the expansion of their nursing skills as well as during the consolidation days and the practical leadership certificates.

The theoretical part with at least 720 hours is modular and follows the current DKG recommendations. In the process, selected learning content of approx. 180 teaching hours is acquired in the form of self-organised learning from home. Each module concludes with a module examination.

The final examinations are divided into two practical final examinations (intensive care and anaesthetics) and an oral final examination.
