Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs) are supported by DHM staff as well as external studies in the routine and study laboratories.

In the biobank laboratory, fluid samples for study and research projects are kept frozen in the Cardiovascular Biobank (KABI-DHM). For this purpose, the laboratory’s own logistics of sample transport, sample handling and data transfer are used to create a “hospital-integrated biobank”.

In the research laboratory, fundamental pathophysiological principles of cardiovascular diseases are researched, new technologies are established and tested, and ultimately new diagnostic biomarkers are developed. These are then made available for research and study groups.

At Munich Biomarker Research Centre (MBRC), services for the development and validation of new diagnostic laboratory parameters are offered to consortia, external study groups and companies.
