Imaging procedure to detect circulatory disorders of the heart muscle in coronary heart disease. Under stress, a small amount of a radioactive substance is injected into the vein. The distribution of radioactivity in the heart muscle is made visible with a gamma camera. Areas of the heart muscle that are poorly perfused or damaged by a heart attack are faintly visualised or not visualised and can be detected and localised on the scintigraphy image.
