The Lown classification (after the US cardiologist Bernard Lown) is used in medicine for the classification of extra beats of the heart, known as extrasystoles, and represents the severity of the extra beats. The extra beats are analysed by measuring a long-term ECG according to frequency, severity and place of origin and classified into six classes using the Lown classification.
