Device for the measurement and visualisation of gamma rays from radioactive substances. After patients are administered small amounts of a radioactive substance, the gamma camera creates a spatial image of the distribution of radioactivity in the heart, showing the blood flow to the individual areas of the heart. The image produced by a gamma camera is called a scintigram or scintigraphy.
